Was walking in Sungai Wang Plaza with my mom and her. She saw a diamond ring and really likes it. After we have walked almost everywhere and also had changed our money currency, we ate teppanyaki.
We went down to ground floor, walked by Levi's shop, went in, I bought a jeans! Woot! My last jeans was like.. 4-5 years ago? I can't remember. Then we went to Diamond & Platinum again so see the diamond ring again.
This time we went in to see more designs and to learn more about diamond cutting and stuff. There's this thing called 4C, carat, cut, color and clarity. There's grade for each C. For this shop, their 'estrella' diamonds has the excellence cut. So the only thing left to choose was carat, color and clarity. Eventually we turned out to be choosing a diamond to buy instead of just looking.
Not long later, my mom got bored and came in the shop. She then silently bought a white gold necklace. She was so happy and so fast too. We were still choosing the right diamond to buy.
Then it was already closing shop period, we finally choose one - a 0.337 E SI1 diamond ring with tiffany & co design. It cost me RM 4,042. And I paid for my mom's necklace which was RM 777. Ok, I'm like really poor now.
So we went back home after that. I then proposed her to marry to me with the diamond ring. Although there isn't much surprise, and very low romantic factor, but I guess this is it. It's just a normal atmosphere, but I think because we had no intention to buy the diamond ring, and she wasn't prepared to get one so suddenly, I think it's also good because she gets too choose and compare and at the same time learn about diamond.
Unlike what you see in the movies, where the guy will buy the diamond ring first, then with flower and kneeing to the girl to propose, in reality, I don't really think it's practical. Maybe other people can do it, and the girl loves that. But what if the girl doesn't like the design? Or maybe the diamond is a fake? Or whatever that can happen.
For me, I like practicality, so going to diamond shop together, choosing together, and where does most of the choosing and then me paying the bill(so that she knows the price!) is a good way too.
Oh, she said "Yes".
